Mr Rein Juriado has been appointed by CEDR EB as the leader of CEDR WG Innovation and Research
Mr Rein Juriado of the Swedish Trafikverket has been appointed by CEDR EB as the leader of CEDR WG Innovation and Research. Rein’s experience on innovation and research includes working in the European Commission’s DG MOVE, as well as the Swedish Innovation Agency Vinnova. With Sweden topping the EU table for innovation, both Rein and Sweden are well qualified to drive innovation activities for national road and infrastructure agencies.
Rein takes over a lead from Pieter de Winne of the Flemish Road Agency who stood down after seven years as a leader of CEDR Innovation Group’s activities. During those seven years, CEDR’s research programme was strengthened with the regular annual calls for tender, focusing ever more closely on the innovation and implementation needs of the NRAs. As Rein takes over, WGIR will be devoting more attention to the coordination and cooperation between national programmes to drive the opportunities for more flexible and cost-effective cooperation. The definition of research calls will be coordinated more closely on the needs of working groups of CEDR which include Connected and Automated Driving, Road Safety, Environment, Network Governance and others.
