The ADVERTS research project will hold a workshop at the VIAS institute in Brussels on the afternoon of October 11, 2018. The workshop will present the newest insights on road safety issues related to distraction from roadside billboards and on how road authorities can deal with these.
ADVERTS or “Assessing Distraction of Vehicle drivers in Europe from Roadside Technology-based Signage” is a project commissioned under CEDR Call 2016 Safety. The project is being delivered by a consortium of three research institutes: SWOV from the Netherlands, TRL from the UK and the Vias Institute in Belgium.
During this workshop, attendees will learn the newest relevant insights on road safety issues related to distraction from roadside billboards and on how road authorities can deal with these. The ADVERTS Team will present a first set of safety recommendations and seek thoughts from CEDR members about how these recommendations fit in current practices, and the barriers that may be encountered. The project team will build on these contributions as they finalise their recommendations and maximise the potential for implementation throughout Europe.
Attendees may also be interested in joining the IRIS project workshop, which also takes place at the VIAS institute on the morning of the same day.
